PT Yokohama Enhances Employee Skills with Practical Problem Solving Training

P2SDM with PT Yokohama Industrial Products Manufacturing Indonesia recently conducted a "Practical Problem Solving" training program on March 12-13, 2025. This initiative aimed to equip employees with essential skills to systematically identify, analyze, and solve problems within the workplace.

Training Objectives and Methodology
The training program focused on enhancing employee's understanding of problem-solving methodologies, including PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), Fishbone Diagram, 5-Why Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis. It also aimed to develop critical and analytical thinking skills, foster a proactive and continuous improvement mindset, and improve department communication and collaboration.  The training emphasized the importance of clear documentation and structured solutions for long-term improvements. 

The program was delivered through lectures, participant engagement, simulations, case studies, group discussions, and games. It followed a 70% theory and 30% practice approach. 

Training Agenda
The two-day training program featured a comprehensive agenda. On the first day, participants engaged in opening activities, a pre-test, and ice-breaking sessions, followed by sessions on "Begin with the End in Mind", Divergent and Convergent Thinking, Problem Analysis within a Team, Introduction to Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and a Workshop on RCA, specifically practicing 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams. The second day included opening activities and ice-breaking, Creative Problem Solving, Introduction to PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), a Workshop on PDCA focusing on A3 Problem Solving, Decision Making & Risk Calculation, and concluded with Closing Day 2 activities, including a post-test and evaluation. 

Training Results and Evaluation
The training program demonstrated a positive impact, within a 27.43% increase in participant's scores from the pre-test to the post-test. Participants also provided positive feedback in the evaluation, noting that the training enhanced their understanding of problem-solving in both professional and personal contexts, provided new insights, and was highly motivating. 

Conclusion
The "Practical Problem Solving" training program by PT Yokohama and P2SDM proved to be a valuable initiative, contributing to the development of employees' critical skills and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
